Newt Gingrich
Since retiring
from Congress, Newt Gingrich has devoted the majority of his
time to advocating for a transformation of the entire health
and healthcare system. He recently founded The
Center for Health Transformation, a unique collaboration
of public and private entities dedicated to accelerating the
adoption of transformational solutions, policies, and
technologies resulting in a 21st Century Health and
Healthcare System characterized by better outcomes at lower
cost.
In his book, Saving
Lives & Saving Money, Newt describes the vision of a
21st Century System that is centered on the
individual, prevention focused, knowledge intense, innovation
rich and market mediated. Secretary of HHS Tommy Thompson
praised, "...Just as he has time and time again, Newt
Gingrich is taking on one of the biggest issues facing America
today… Saving Lives and Saving Money is a welcome
and necessary addition to the health care debate."
During his 20
years in Congress, Newt was committed to improving America’s
healthcare system, co-chairing the Republican Task Force on
Health for four years prior to becoming Speaker. During his
four years as Speaker, the House passed bold legislation
related to Medicare and the FDA, and dramatically increased
science and research spending.
Newt serves on the
advisory board for the Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality, the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation and debuted on Modern Healthcare’s 100
Most Powerful People in Healthcare 2003 (#19). Recent events
have spotlighted Newt’s expertise in the area of
bioterrorism preparedness; he serves on Secretary Donald
Rumsfeld’s Defense Policy Board, the Council on Foreign
Relations Terrorism Task Force and as a professor at the
National Defense University.
Newt is CEO of the
Gingrich Group, a management consulting firm, and is a senior
fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where he leads
The 21st Century Health System project.
Widely recognized
as a transformational leader, Newt is unparalleled in his
ability to lead successful large-scale change. Time magazine,
in naming him Man of the Year for 1995, said, "Leaders
make things possible. Exceptional leaders make them
inevitable. Newt Gingrich belongs in the category of the
exceptional." |
