Exclusive Briefing at Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C.

January 26 & 27, 2005

An exclusive program in Washington, D.C. is being planned for Cornerstone New Jersey members the evening of January 26, 2005, and the following morning, which includes dinner with members of Congress and a high-level briefing at the Federal Reserve. This is being scheduled to coincide with the State Chamber’s 68th Annual Walk to Washington, which is the evening of the 27th.

This special event will kick-off with a reception on the rooftop of the historic Hay-Adams Hotel, which offers a spectacular view of the White House. Originally designed in the 1920s as a residential hotel, the Hay-Adams has always preserved the ambiance of a distinguished private home on Lafayette Square. At the reception, and dinner that follows, Cornerstone members will be provided with a unique opportunity to dine with members of the New Jersey Congressional delegation and other invited special guests. This purely social dinner will take place in the famous John Hay Room, which is one of Washington’s signature settings. Its rich woodwork and period ceiling treatments provide a warm, intimate ambiance.

In addition, we are arranging for a few post-dinner options for Cornerstone members that will surely be memorable. Options include playing pool with a member (or members) of Congress, a nighttime tour of Washington monuments or cocktails in the Hay-Adams’ Off the Record Bar, which is frequented nightly by Washington’s powerbrokers.

Breakfast will be offered the next morning and the day’s program will be highlighted by an exclusive briefing from Dr. Roger W. Ferguson, Jr., the vice chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. This will take place in the impressive boardroom of the Federal Reserve Building, the exact place where the crucial decisions affecting the nation’s monetary policy are made. Dr. Ferguson, who is a representative of the Federal Reserve in international policy groups, was elected vice chairman in 2003 for a second four-year term ending in 2007. He has been a member of the Board of Governors since 1997.

Following the program at the Federal Reserve, meetings for those interested will be arranged on Capitol Hill. After that, you will have time to rest up and prepare for the State Chamber’s big event, the 68th Congressional Dinner, which begins with a reception at 6 p.m. and follows with a 7 p.m. dinner for 1,900 of your closet friends.

While details are still being ironed out, we feel this is already shaping up to be a spectacular program. Thank you, and please contact John Custodio, Cornerstone Director, at (609) 989-7888.
